Stage Day 1

Welcome to my blog,
Here I will keep you up to date on our #roadtobarcelona. Together with the Belgian U16 girls we are going to participate in a six nations tournament. This will take place in Barcelona on the 16th of July. The countries participating are: England, Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium of course ;).
We need a good preparation to be in top form during the tournament. That is the reason why we have already played two practice games against the Netherlands, which we both lost unfortunately. On the 6th of July we went to England, again to play 3 practice games. We stayed their for four whole days and we stayed at a College in Canterbury. Every girl had her own room and it was quite exciting to sleep on your own. The first game we lost with 1-0, but over all it was a good team performance. The second game we had a 4-0 win and the last was a tie (1-1). We had some good luck with the weather, it was around 28 degrees every day.
Today we had a stage day, which means that we have two training sessions of two hours with a tactical meeting in between. It was in Kontich at the hockeyclub Beerschot. The time of arrival was 8.30 and we were allowed to leave at 17.00. So we make very long days. The two sessions were not that intensive, because we just came back from our trip to Canterbury. During the tactical meeting we usually discuss the outlet and the press and we also use video images from our matches we already played. Those videos are to see what goes alright and what do we still need to improve.
I am now getting some rest to be ready for another stage day tomorrow in Kontich. The starting time is a bit later, namely 10.30.
