Stage Day 3

13 juli 2017 - Kontich, België

Another stage day... luckily this is the last one before we leave to Barcelona! Yes!

Our trainer was so kind to just put one session on the schedule instead of two. The session started at 11.00 and we had a small meeting before. This meeting was to make sure that everybody understood the practical things about traveling to Spain. We could ask questions, like what should you take in your hand luggage? In the same meeting we also discussed the Penalty Corners (attack). The training was mainly focused on training the corners, so it was of low-intensity.

I slept at my teammates house on a airbed (not very comfortable). Her house was closer to the hockey pitch. For that reason I was able to sleep a bit longer. The time of arrival was 10.00, therefore we left at 9.30. My mom brought me a gift to hand over to my teammates family and it was a box of little chocolates with windmills on it. Typically from the Netherlands, which they really enjoyed.

After we finished our training session, there was time to take a quick shower at the club. Some girls arranged that we could have a BBQ with the whole team at the club for 15 euros. The BBQ started at 14.00 and it was very delicious. There were all different kind of meat (beef, hamburgers, etc.) and vegetables and for once our physical trainer was not complaining about something we were not allowed to eat :).

It was one of the girls birthday today, so she brought some cake and pie. Again, we were allowed to eat this and this made our day! When we finished eating it was time to take a swim. At the club they have a nice open air swimming pool (as you can see on the picture). The boys U16 also took a swim and we played dodgeball in the water. Then it was finally time to go to my own house again and sleep in my own bed.

Tomorrow, they scheduled a rest day. On this day I will pack everything I need to take with me to Barcelona.

Hi Zoe, looks like you are ready for take off! It sure is an intense schedule to get ready for the tournament. I hope you all do well, and bring home the trophy. Can't wait to read and see about your athletic internship! (You mention a picture, but i'm not able to see a picture in the post above. Maybe something went wrong...)
